Rhonda Winters, N.P.
Rhonda Winters' education and work experience are extremely extensive. For over 20 years, Rhonda continued her education while employed in various positions in the health care industry. Beginning in 1982 with Pre-Nursing at Auburn University, Rhonda went on to Pre-Nursing at Tift College and then to the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta where she attained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After obtaining her bachelor degree, Rhonda took a few years off from her education and served as supervisor for a home healthcare organization with a caseload of over 50 patients only to leave that position to gain hospital experience as a staff nurse at two of Macon's hospitals.
Always the knowledge seeker, Rhonda, while still working as a staff nurse, continued her education earning an Associate of Applied Science - Physical Therapy Assistant degree in 1991 from Dekalb College/Gwinnett Technical Institute in Lawrenceville, GA. For the next five years, Rhonda served as a physical therapy assistant managing orthopedic diagnosis, prosthetics, and burn and wound care.
Rhonda decided to take the next step and once again returned to
college seeking her Master of Science in Nursing. In 2001, she
received her MSN from Georgia College and State University in
Milledgeville, GA. While pursuing her master's degree, Rhonda returned to hospital nursing.
With her master's degree in hand, Rhonda, now an accredited nurse practitioner, went to work with a physicians group in Macon. However, Rhonda yearned to once again practice in the orthopedic field where she believed her experience and training would be of most benefit to patients needing her skills. When offered her current position Rhonda said, "When Drs. Stapleton and Beringer, two extraordinary orthopedic surgeons, offered me the opportunity and privilege to work with their patients under their supervision, I was overjoyed. "
