Macon Imaging Center

Forsyth Street Orthopaedics has incorporated one of the most advanced diagnostic tools available into its imaging program, the new Signa HDx 1.5T MRI system from GE Healthcare. The system delivers highly detailed images of the human body with increased speed, better resolution and unique applications. This results in shorter exams and greater comfort for patients, while providing higher diagnostic confidence for doctors.

This new MRI technology will enable the physicians at Forsyth Street Orthopaedics to provide patients with almost immediate results of their MRI scan, allowing more timely diagnosis and treatment and ultimate resolution of their pain.

Having the capability of MRI in-house has allowed the physicians to treat patients more quickly, conveniently and competently. The patients, especially those from the outlying areas, are pleased that they are not required to make an appointment elsewhere for testing.

"The goal of our new Imaging Center was to create a comfortable environment while maintaining diagnostic excellence. We decided on the GE MRI System for its excellence in diagnostic scanning. Having the Imaging Center on site will be convenient for our patients while providing us the best imaging available in the area" stated Dr. Kelly.

MRI Frequently Asked Questions:

What is a MRI?

MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. It is a revolutionary diagnostic imaging process that uses a magnet and radiofrequency waves to allow doctors to see inside your body from any angle without the need for surgery or radiation caused by x-rays and CT scans.

Why does my doctor care what type of MRI unit their patients go to?

Your doctor wants you to acquire the best images and interpretations possible.  In MRI one of the basic principles of being able to obtain an image with high quality and resolution has to do with the MRI systems inherent field strength. The higher the field strength, the higher the signal and resolution. This translates into better image quality and often a higher accuracy for exam interpretation.
