If you think of the brain as the command center of the body, the neck is the control tower through which all messages must be relayed. Through its relatively tiny structure, only three small vertebrae, run the nerves that instruct the rest of the body how and when to perform.
In addition, the neck has a considerable flexibility of its own and it must support the weight of the head.
Because it is less protected than the rest of the body, the neck is vulnerable to injury. It is also subject to degenerative and inflammatory diseases. Problems here can produce pain and restrict movement.
