Dr. Timothy Stapleton
Timothy R. Stapleton, M.D.

Dr. Stapleton completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the Hughston Clinic in Columbus, Georgia. His specialty is sports medicine, shoulder reconstruction, and joint replacement. He is a partner of Forsyth Street Orthopaedic Surgery & Rehabilitation Centers. He serves as the primary team physician for all Mercer University athletics. He serves as the Chief of Surgery and the Chief of Orthopaedics for Coliseum Northside Hosptial.
Dr. Stapleton is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery for Mercer University School of Medicine and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery for the Uniformed Services University of Health Services. He has authored papers on anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, elbow arthroscopy and rotator cuff repair.
Dr. Stapleton is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons; the Georgia Orthopaedic Society; the Medical Association of Georgia, the Bibb County Medical Society; the Arthroscopy Association of North America; and the Southern Orthopaedic Association.
Education:
Dr. Stapleton earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Christianity at Mercer University and his Medical Degree from the Mercer University School of Medicine both in Macon, Georgia. He completed his internship and a residency in orthopaedics while serving on active duty with the United States Air Force in Florida and Texas.
