Macon Elbow Pain
Elbow Information
The doctors at Forsyth Orthopaedics see many patients at our facilities with elbow pain or injuries. Because your upper arm bone (humerus) meets the bones in the lower arm (ulna and radius) at the elbow, several muscles, tendons and nerves come together at this point. Diagnosing the proper treatment for your elbow in pain requires a comprehensive examination and understanding of the intersecting body parts.
Your visit will start with a careful physical examination. If necessary, we may request that you have an X-ray, electrical exam, or advanced imaging to determine the root cause of your pain. While many of the issues (like "tennis elbow") are common, we want to make sure your personal situation is given the care necessary to develop a comprehensive program for recovery.
While some elbow injuries do require standard surgical procedures, the type of approach depends on the diagnosis and prognosis of your condition. Frequently, we will recommend splints, injection therapy or rehabilitation as a start to your treatment. When needed, our doctors may recommend a incision-based or non invasive arthroscopic surgical procedure to help alleviate your elbow pain. In extreme cases, total elbow replacement surgery may be needed for patients with severe elbow pain often associated with arthritic conditions or complex injuries.
